BPA (bisphenol-A) is what
makes polycarbonate plastic clear, and is ahormone-disrupting chemical considered to be potentially harmful to human
health.
Exposure to BPA during pregnancy and
childhood could impact the developing breast and prostate, hasten puberty, affect behavior
in children, and may play a part in neurological problems such as ADD
and autism. A new study has linked BPA to
heart disease and diabetes, as well as abnormally high liver
enzymes.
According to Medical
News Today, adult women who were exposed prenatally to BPA
could be at increased risk of breast cancer, according to a new study
accepted for publication in Hormones & Cancer, a journal of The
Endocrine Society.
BPA is commonly found in plastic
water and baby bottles, and food and beverage linings.
